Learn to dive with NDsac

Try dives and Introduction to diving

For an introduction to our underwater world we can offer a "Try Dive" experience in the relaxed environment of the swimming pool. This is a great way to see if our sport is something you will enjoy before committing to a full training course.

We offer BSAC training to the entry level of Ocean Diver initially, which is a world recognised qualification, but just the start for those who really want to progress and get more from diving. You will have one of our qualified instructors take you right through the theory and practical pool sessions before heading into the open water itself. As a club we are all volunteers so the training is paced at a level to suit each individual, this may take a little longer than other commercial training agencies but we like to think we give a personal touch.

Crossover

We welcome those with qualifications from other agencies and if you wish to become BSAC accredited, crossover training will give a like for like qualification. From here all the higher BSAC diver grades and skill development courses are open to you.

Learning to dive with NDsac, through the BSAC diver grades

From beginner to experienced, BSAC provides a full training programme that enables divers to progress through a framework of qualifications at their own pace.

There are five internationally-recognised BSAC diver grades, from the entry level Ocean Diver through to our highest grade, First Class Diver.

There is also many ways to improve your divng with various SDCs  (skill development courses ) and instructor training courses away from our club but still within the BSAC training programme.

BSAC Diver Grades

BSAC has been training people to dive since the early 1950s. During this time the Diver Training Programme has been regularly updated and improved to keep pace with developments in equipment and diving knowledge. The programme is designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost.

Diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step by step. Following basic training in the safety of a swimming pool or protected area, students soon complete their first open water dives to achieve Ocean Diver certification. This progression continues to Sports Diver and beyond, where open water skills and techniques are further developed and experience gained.

All diver training courses are delivered through BSAC clubs, by qualified instructors over a series of weekly evening sessions and weekend open water training, with the opportunity for regular diving to hone your skills – this is YOUR diving journey and we are with you every step of the way.
